Atlas took advantage of two errors by La Paz goalkeeper Mauro Machado to defeat the Bolivian squad 2-0 in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores qualifying match on Wednesday. Machado's errors allowed goals by Ulises Mendivil in the fifth minute and Eduardo Rergis in the 71st. The second leg will be played next Wednesday in La Paz. "We have a 2-0 lead. There's nothing to celebrate, we're expecting a tough match there," Rergis said. "There are still 90 minutes left to play, we have to be smart." Atlas could advance to Group 3 of the Copa Libertadores, where Argentina's defending champion Boca Juniors, Colo Colo of Chile, and Venezuela's Maracaibo await. Machado's first error came when he bobbled an attempt to clear the ball, allowing Mendivil to fire off a shot that went between his arms. Later, Machado tossed the ball toward the middle of the field, where Rergis fired off a powerful 20-meter shot.
