FA CUP: Liverpool V Luton 2008

LUTON TOWN Vs LIVERPOOL 16:00 Sun 06th January
FA Cup 3rd Round

Last Meeting:
The last time Liverpool Travelled to Luton we we're almost given the shock of the season. After Steven Gerrard opened the scoring after curling the ball into the back of the net in the 16th minute Luton replied with 2 goals and then another from a penalty after the break. It looked like Liverpool we're going out, but when Sinima Pongolle came on the game changed and he scored in the 62nd minute and then 5 minutes later Xabi Alonso give Liverpool hope after putting them level from 40 yards, 5 minutes later Pongolle scored again. Liverpool dominated the rest of the game but in the 89 mintute Luton got a corner, every player came up to try and grab a later equaliser, Including Lutons Goalkeeper, but the Liverpool defenced cleared the ball and it dropped to Xabi alonso's feet, Gerrard sprinted towards the open goal and was screaming at Alonso for him to pass but Alonso had other Ideas.Alonso decided to go and extra bit better than 40 yards. 60 YARDS OUT! Alonso struck the ball as hard as he could and the ball flew accross the pitch and then slowly bobbled into the net. Liverpool won the game 5-3 and went on to win the FA cup in 2006, hopefully this weekends game will prove to be an equally exciting match up
